General Updates
~ Volunteer Breakfast - Please use this link to sign up for your contribution to the annual volunteer breakfast that we’re hosting for our incredible Wiley volunteers. The breakfast is Monday, June 5th.

EOG Updates (Please read carefully!)

  • COPIER in the LOUNGE: Please remember that the lounge will be used for testing all throughout next week. This means that for security purposes, while testing materials are out, the copy machine will be turned off. Please plan ahead and make your copies for the week before hand. You can make copies early before school or at the end of the day. If you have a copying emergency, you can use the duplicator in the first grade workroom or the copier in the office (limited amounts.) Thank you for your flexibility!!

  • NOISE in Hallway and Playground: Please remember the EOG’s will be taking place on every floor in every building.  Please be mindful of hallway noise and remember no use of the K-2 playground during testing.  An announcement will be made so you know that testing is complete.  Thank you!

  • HALLWAY and CLASSROOM DISPLAYS: If the display contains content being measured on an EOG (math, ELA, science) or has Tips for Taking Tests or is helpful in any way (word lists, word walls, definitions, writing formulas, multiplication tables, number lines, formulas, etc.) then it MUST be covered or removed. Not removing them will result in a misadministration so if it doubt cover it up or take it down.

  • Morning Duty:  If you do not have a morning duty or finish your morning duty early, please take some time to check in on Breakfast Duty and Carpool Duty to see if they need any help, since both Kristin and Eman will be getting testing materials ready.  THANK YOU!

  • GENERAL EOG REMINDERS:
    • Make sure to allow students to use the restroom as they arrive to school before testing.
    • Make sure you have enough seating in the room you are testing in and that you have access to a clock in your testing room.
    • Make sure all cell phones are turned off and put away.
    • If you take your admin guides to read and highlight at home this weekend it is important that you bring them back on Testing day to use during the testing session.

PBIS UPDATES
Monday morning meeting activity: Musical Papers
This is a great way for people to use their communication/teamwork skills as well as have some laughs.
Supplies needed: Paper for each student, Music
Set up: Place the papers on the floor around the room.
Here is the challenge: To successfully get ALL participants balanced on the papers.
□ Students are told that when the music starts, they are to mingle around, dance if they wish. The goal of this activity is about working as a team to ensure everyone gets on a paper! It is not like Survivor! □
When the music stops, each person has to have both feet on a paper. Tell them you will countdown 3-2-1 after the music stops and they must have everyone on a paper when you get to “1”
□ When the music starts again, 1 or 2 papers are removed.
□ Participants walk around again to the music and repeat the process. (Just like musical chairs.) Watch what happens: As papers are removed, you will see people work harder to get everyone on. There usually is some clever person in each group that says, “hey can we rip the paper to make it easier? Or rip it in small pieces so that each person can stand on a piece?” Respond by saying, “We never said you couldn’t.” Sometimes the group has 1 paper left and is struggling to figure out a solution. If needed, you can give them a hint such as asking: ”Is there any way you can think of to increase the space of the paper?” or “Can you think of any way to spread out the people but still have everyone touching the paper?”
Reflection Questions:
□ What was easy, what was hard about this challenge?
□ How did people help or encourage each other?
□ How did you work as a team?
□ Did someone take on a leadership role or was there shared leadership
PBIS reminders:
Please be on time for transition hallway duties.
Hold students accountable for behavior. The expectation in the hall is single file, walking and quiet. This is not happening during transitions. Stop them and make them repeat the correct way.
This time of year the less time between classroom celebration the better. Kids stay excited and motivated if they have a celebration to look forward to. Please hold students to the lunchroom expectations. Students should be using hand signals to get up in the lunch room. Please do not leave your table washers in the lunchroom unattended to clean up. Students must be supervised in the lunchroom and on the ramps. We all need to be consistent with our behavior expectations.  Hold the kids and each other accountable.
