December 2

Shout-Outs & Celebrations
(Consider sharing your shout-out!)
  • Shout Out to the Wiley PTA for an incredible ‘Wiley Thanks Event’ … please take a few minutes to drop a quick email, note of thanks, and or even a quick, verbal thank-you to Melissa Dennis, Tina Hlabse, Elyse Lyons and other parents that contributed to this wonderful event!  (LT)
  • Shout Out to Matt Schisler for taking time out of his day to assist a Wiley parent with a flat tire after carpool dismissal!  (SS)
  • Shout Out to everyone who worked hard on getting our hallways looking AMAZING!!  I loved watching different people help as they walked through the front hall adding ‘We are Wiley’ to our graffiti wall! It really does take a village.  (EZ-B)
  • Thank you to the Theme Team for contributing what your grade level, language, and electives do to support our magnet theme. It was extremely helpful in completing the MSA application.(EZ-B)

  • WILEY GIVES BACK WEEK NEEDS YOUR HELP (GRADES K-4)! Please take a moment to have your class or grade level brainstorm a take action proposal idea for our school.  Please turn it in by Friday, December 9 to Eman. We cannot wait to see what ideas your students have and have them be a part of taking action at Wiley for Wiley Gives Back!  [So far we have 3 of the 4 days planned by our 5th graders… SEE ADDITIONAL EMAIL ATTACHMENT  - For Zero Hunger - We plan to have a food drive.  For Quality Education - We plan to have a school supply drive (or book drive) waiting to see what local charities need.  For Clean Water we are combining a 3rd grade and 5th grade idea. (We will collect gloves, hats, hand warmers, warm socks.) For students at our school that might need them and also to send to the First Nation (Native American) members and those standing on the front lines of Standing Rock peacefully demonstrating the importance of our clean waters in sub zero weather.]

IRT/Literacy Updates

  • (Repeat) ***NOVEMBER IRT UPDATE: Please click HERE to access the November update. It is filled with important information so please take the time to read through it. If you have any follow up questions regarding the updates, please let me know.

  • Calculators: 3-5 Classroom Teachers & CCR ~ Thank you for completing the calculator count spreadsheet. I am working on redistributing calculators for instructional use. Please make sure that you give your students ample opportunities to practice with the calculators so that they are able to use them appropriately during testing scenarios. *If you have calculators in your room and DO NOT use them for instruction or have more than you need, please bring them down to my office in the media center. I will also take non-working calculators. As we get closer to EOGs, Eman and I will work to ensure that all classrooms have the calculators needed for testing.

  • Case21: Case21 Midyear benchmarks will be administered during the week of January 23rd. The assessment books have been delivered and I want to confirm your numbers to ensure that we have the correct amount. Please let me know if there are NOT ENOUGH.
