IRT/Literacy Updates
- Calculators: 3-5 Classroom Teachers & CCR ~ Thank you for completing the calculator count spreadsheet. I am working on redistributing calculators for instructional use. Please make sure that you give your students ample opportunities to practice with the calculators so that they are able to use them appropriately during testing scenarios. *If you have calculators in your room and DO NOT use them for instruction or have more than you need, please bring them down to my office in the media center. I will also take non-working calculators. As we get closer to EOGs, Eman and I will work to ensure that all classrooms have the calculators needed for testing.
- Case21: Case21 Midyear benchmarks will be administered during the week of January 23rd. The assessment books have been delivered and I want to confirm your numbers to ensure that we have the correct amount. Please let me know if there are NOT ENOUGH.
- 5th: 78 Math & 79 ELA
- 4th: 85 Math & 84 ELA
- 3rd: 77 Math & 77 ELA
- 2nd: 79 Math & 83 ELA
As you are preparing to administer your benchmarks, during your PLTs/Planning create a schedule for assessing as well as a plan for your IEP/LEP/504 students. Please fill in your plan HERE by January 9th. If you need help with small groups, please check with your CCR case managers first. If you still need assistance let me know and I will arrange for folks to help out. :)
Magnet Updates
- SAVE THE DATE! December 15 the WorldView Team will be sharing neat and easy global tools to use in your classrooms. Come join us before the band concert from 4:30-5:30. More details to come. (This is the follow-up from what we presented at our November staff meeting.)
- (Repeat) Student Ambassadors:
- Please make sure your student Ambassador is ready to greet our tours and explain something you are working on. The classes that have put this in effect have really impressed our parents and it has been great watching our students take leadership roles! (Remember to have an ambassador in each homeroom as well as Language and Electives.)
Media & Technology
- Hour of Code: Thank you SO much to all staff and students who participated in Hour of Code. Check out the computer science statistics in North Carolina alone! You willingness to take a risk with something new doesn’t go unnoticed. Looking forward to including many more opportunities for critical thinking, problem solving, coding and programming. Hopefully, coding won’t be reserved for just 1 hour a year at Wiley!
- Wiley Media & Technology has a new website! Go to: www.wileyreads.weebly.com to check it out! On our new website, you can view the media center calendar. If you need to reserve the media center for any activities or events, there is now a form available for you to fill out on the website. It is a work in progress; thank you for your patience.
- Spreading Kindness: Lynn has created a list of books that may help with various social issues that you may want to touch on after the election. If we have a copy of the book in the Wiley Media Center, Lynn has included the call number.
