General Updates
  • Bottle Caps: This year, during the 2nd quarter Go Green club, students will be creating art installations out of bottle caps. If you have washed bottle caps or lids to containers that you could contribute, please drop them off in the blue bucket by Mrs. Ware’s box. Thanks!
  • Composting at Lunch: Review composting expectations with students-food waste, cardboard, milk cartons can be composted. Plastic bags and trays, condiment packets, and plastic ware cannot. Please consider supervising or having a student supervise the class as students throw away items after lunch. Any plastic contamination creates a major headache for our composting company and there has been a rise in contamination in the last several weeks. Thanks in advance!
  • Socktober: Ms. O’Brien’s class talked about Hurricane Matthew this week. Her students wanted to do something to help the people suffering from the flooding. They have decided to take action by collecting socks during the month of October. Please put all donations (new adult or children’s socks) in the boxes outside Ms. O’Brien’s room or in the office.
  • Dismissal to electives: Bells are set to signal departure times from classrooms. When students are dismissed after the bells ring, there is a loss of teaching time and supervision of transitions is compromised. Please plan for this and have students packed up and ready to dismiss to electives prior to the bell ringing. The bells ring at the following times (also listed under the schedule link in the playbook): 10:38, 11:18, 11:58, 12:28, 1:08, 1:48 (2-3), 1:53 (k-1), 2:33, 3:13.
