General Updates

  • Bottle Caps: This year, during the 2nd quarter Go Green club, students will be creating art installations out of bottle caps. If you have washed bottle caps or lids to containers that you could contribute, please drop them off in Mrs. Ware’s box. Thanks!
  • Litterbug Busters: Please remind students to be litterbug busters. There has been an increase in litter and it would be awesome if our school family worked together to pick up litter whenever we see it. Thanks in advance!
  • Community Agreements: In August, we agreed to greet students at the door, to have a student of the day whose parents we contact with positive communication, and to conduct Morning Meetings. How’s it going? Take a moment to reflect on these initiatives with your teammates.
  • Socktober: Ms. O’Brien’s class talked about Hurricane Matthew this week. Her students wanted to do something to help the people of Haiti. They have decided to take action by collecting socks during the month of October. Please put all donations (new adult or children’s socks) in the boxes outside Ms. O’Brien’s room or in the office.
  • Book Fair:  This year’s book fair will include ‘Moonlight Reading w/ PJs, Milk & Cookies’. PTA is seeking guest readers. Please check out available slots here using this link:  http://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0c48aaa928a0fb6-wileys

Repeat from Last Week:
  • GLOBAL READ ALOUD (October 3 - November 11):
    • Jeff Carpenter and Julie Justice are two Professors at Elon University, and they are doing a research study about the Global Read Aloud.  The purpose of the study is to describe and analyze the Global Read Aloud (GRA) project and to understand the perceptions and motivations of participants in the GRA project.  They are looking for about 6-8 teachers to be observed during Global Read Aloud-related activities for 1-3 sessions.  Their focus is the Global Read Aloud and not what you do, or how you do it as a teacher. If you would like to help these professors out please let me (Eman) know, so I can let them know.  Thank you for helping out some fellow educators.

Repeat from Last Week:
  • MAGNET FAIR - Saturday, November 5th - ACTION NEEDED
    • Please remember to sign up for the Magnet Fair on Saturday, November 5th.  Please discuss with your team and sign up HERE.  (I need all language teachers and at least one member from each grade level (if possible more from K).)  Also, please consider helping with Setting up on Friday after school if you are unable to make it on Saturday.  THANK YOU!
