General Updates
  • Report Card Comments:
    • Please offer celebrations and growth opportunities in the comment sections of the report card - be specific when you can do so regarding academic skills.
    • You may use this section to address work habits/behavior concerns but such concerns should not consume the message you wish to convey, and positive suggestions for corrective measures should be added.
    • If there are major concerns (academic/behavior), the report card should NOT be the first line of communication with a parent/guardian.
    • Interventions should be specific … but be careful in using “education jargon” that parents may not understand or may misinterpret.
    • Put yourself in the shoes of the parent … what would you want to know and what feelings would you want to feel?
  • Picture Make-Ups: Picture make-up day will be on Monday, November 7th for students who need makeup pictures, or who were absent on the original picture day. See Carol for more information.

Media & Technology

  • LAST CALL!
    • CONTEST: The 4Cs come to life when teams plan together. Add coffee or chocolate and you get the 5Cs at Wiley :) Get out of your classrooms and come plan in the media center once a week. The first team to tweet the following, #5Cs@wileyelementary, will win coffee or chocolate for their planning.
    • TWITTER: Twitter is an excellent professional development resource for educators. It’s a simple way to read current research, learn new strategies and to both share and collaborate with other educators. I love seeing all of the wonderful things happening in education on Twitter! One of my goals is to highlight more of the amazing happenings in Wiley classrooms.  Help Lynn & I to do this by sharing your Twitter handle. What’s your Twitter handle?
  • Google Work Sessions: Chris will begin offering Google work sessions. To launch this series, we will start with the basics. If you would help with Google Docs, Google Slides, Google Drive, Google Sheets, etc - please come to one of the following work sessions in the media center.  Sign Up Here
