- Too Many Logins and Passwords? The WakeID Portal is Coming! Having trouble managing the multiple login names and passwords you need to access applications such as Google Apps, Canvas and more? We have good news! Starting March 15, you will use the new WakeID Portal to access these and other applications in one place with one username and password. Here is what you need to know about this important change:
- The first thing you will need to do on the morning of March 15 is claim your WakeID through the WakeID Portal. Your WakeID is the first part of your email address. You will need to follow a series of steps through the WakeID Portal to update your password and claim your account. The process will take about 10 minutes.
- You will receive more information about how to claim your WakeID account next week via email. Information also will be posted on the intranet and shared through @WCPSSTeam on Facebook and Twitter.
- The change over to the WakeID Portal will begin at 6 p.m. on March 14. You will not be able to access Google, PowerSchool/PowerTeacher, EASi, and any other application that uses your WakeID and password again until 6 a.m. on March 15. Email will still be accessible with the WakeID and password during change over.
- The WakeID Portal is where you will eventually access many resources including new email and intranet platforms.
- You will be able to use the WakeID Portal to reset your own password. Teachers will be able to use the WakeID Portal to reset students' passwords.
- Students will need to access their Google Apps and Canvas through the WakeID Portal, but they won't need to claim their accounts. Their default password will be their student number. Secondary students must change their passwords on their first login.
- More information is coming. Stay tuned!
Magnet Updates
- WALK FOR WATER EVENT - Wiley is joining forces with Broughton High School to be a part of their Walk for Water Event that will take place on April 29. All proceeds of this fundraiser will go to Global H2O for building wells in African countries in need. On March 22 the students at Broughton are going to wear blue for World Water Day, they would love for us to join them and tweet pictures of us and our students wearing blue and tagging them. Here is the flyer for World Water Day. More information to come next week about registering to walk and other fundraisers.
- Hallway Display: If you haven’t already changed your hallway display’s from Q2 to Q3, it’s time to take down the old and prepare the walls for the new. Remember start with a new title and add something each week, it doesn’t have to all be done in 1 day.
- MAKE SURE YOU SIGN UP FOR ONE OF THE EVENTS BELOW (if you choose The Day the Crayons Quit Project it is due the end of the Month)
- The Day the Crayons Quit Project -- Due March 31
- Then you will brainstorm with your students about what other classrooms items might wish to quit -- and why.
- Next, choose a way to represent these stories with the other participating classrooms. Perhaps you might wish to make a imovie or a google slideshow. Your students might wish to illustrate their own stories and create a book using the app Book Creator. Your class might wish to write a reader's theatre and create a podcast. There is no "you need to do it this way" for your class to showcase their stories. Come up with the plan and tool that works best for your class.....and run with it.
- Please have your stories posted -- or shared to Jennifer - by March 31, 2017.
- Check out the link for more information.

1. Call out a direction from each category on the chart. For example, “Tiptoe, handshake, favorite book.”
2. Students tiptoe around the room to find a partner and greet them with a handshake. Partners then tell each other their favorite book.
3. Ring a bell to signal a new round. Call out three new directions. Students move, greet, and share in those designated ways.
4. Continue for three or four rounds.
PBIS club: Member of the PBIS club will make announcements each Friday. Please have your class quiet for these announcements. If you have announcements to be considered please give them to Judy Williams.
PBIS reminders:
· Pink flowers were placed in your mailboxes last week with new medals. These are the new Wiley Winner forms for March and April. Please recycle the snowflakes. Extra copies will be in the lounge. You may hang the flowers on the tree or place them in Laura O'Brien's mailbox.
· Recess: Please remember to spread out on the playground so there is supervision on all areas of the playground.
· Please continue to be at your duty location when the bell rings. The duties are posted in the Playbook.
· Continue to pass out Globetrotters. Extra Globetrotters, Wiley Winner forms and certificates can be found in the lounge.
· Lunchroom: Students are not to come back in line for snacks after they have been through the line. Students do not need to come in the line to see siblings or their friends. This is causing some delays. Students are to be using the posted hand signals when they need something in the lunchroom. Table washers need to be assigned. Please have them wash the tables and throw away all trash from the table. The table should not be so wet that the class afterwards cannot sit down. Please check the table BEFORE you leave the lunchroom with your class. Students should not be left in the lunchroom to clean after you leave. Some table washers are playing in the lunchroom and on the ramp unsupervised.
