  • Way to go Eman! You have been the grant writing Queen! Thank you for your diligence and effort to secure resources for Wiley.
  • Karen Rose, you are cleaning up massive art projects and managing to get your students ready to leave when the bell rings. Thank you so much!!!
  • Jenny Oliver, it was so lovely to watch you comfort one of your students. Your genuine concern for the wellbeing of your students is a joy to watch.
  • Huge thanks to Heather (and all of our ‘my story’ sharers) for boldly stepping out of your comfort zone to share your profound and compelling story (stories)!
  • Big thanks to Eman, Ute, Hela, and Lynn for making preparations to present at the staff meeting … we’ll make it up to you!

General Updates
  • Emergency Drills-in order to maintain safety at all times, it is an expectation that students remain silent during all emergency drills. Please congratulate classes when they are able to move silently and calmly during these drills. We will have another opportunity to practice this month.
  • Don’t forget to submit your make-up time justification sheet for the January “snow days” by Friday, February 10 to Leslie.

  • Next Friday’s UN Council Meeting Activity is brought to you by Hela & Ute. They welcome your questions if you have any! The content of their recent message regarding the upcoming activity:
Here, you will find a link to the February 10th UN council activity.
The activity is focused on using academic language for reasoning skills.
You will find instructions on how to group your students in the presentation.
The questions are based on the book "Would you rather be a bullfrog".
Choose two or three questions that speak to you and have the groups answer them using the provided answer stems ( We will put the answer stems from slide 3 in your mailbox by tomorrow).
You may also choose to come together in the end and discuss your results.

IRT/Literacy Updates
  • Case21 Scoresheets: Please return the scoresheets to me by Tuesday afternoon. Thank you!
  • SIOP Reflection Sheets: If you have not yet had the chance to do so, please return your SIOP reflection sheet (purple paper) to my mailbox. I look forward to spending some time in your PLTs on February 15th discussing your successes with your action steps.
  • The first person to email Katie Ware with this number [3478] will receive a present in their box on Monday. (Reading the blog rocks!)

Magnet Updates
  • QUARTER 3 Electives - Remember new electives begin Wednesday.  I emailed your students electives to you last week. Please note there might be some changes, especially for students in Reading Cafe.  You will be emailed directly if this affects a student in your class.
  • QUARTER 3 - Start thinking about your global unit for Q3 or how you plan to tie the global goals into your teaching. Also, time to start considering what you plan to have up in the Hallways.  Remember to plan it out across weeks and not feel like it all has to be done at once.  
  • MONTHLY GLOBAL OPPORTUNITIES:
    • GLOBAL SCHOOL PLAYDAY (we will observe it on February 8 this year, since we will have no internet in the building that day).
    • WORLD READ ALOUD DAY (is on February 16)

Media & Technology
  • CAMPUS-WIDE REIMAGING!  
1) Back up ALL files from your computers!
2) Then check to make sure your backed up files open on another device!
  • Apply stickers from Kathy & Chris to your staff laptop and power cord
  • Stickers will be in your mailboxes early next week
3) Bring your cleared, labeled staff laptop & power cord to the media center stage
  • eWise Professional Development: Are you trying to incorporate more voice & choice into your lessons?  Do you want students who not only can find information, but also evaluate it?  Did the video from the staff meeting inspire you to include more creativity into your daily structure?  If so, then eWISE is a perfect tool for adding all of these things into your classroom. Lynn is going to be talking about eWISE at several different sessions throughout the month of February if you are interested in learning more.   • January Media Center Stats…
1,554 books were circulated in January.
We currently have 622 overdue books.
Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days had the most checkouts for January.
There were 1,392 books checked out on Feb. 1.
25 classes visited the media center in January.
